Gavin Larsen, the chief selector for New Zealand, is optimistic that Trent Boult, a fast bowler, will lead the nation’s pace attack in the ODI World Cup in India later this year.
In order to make himself accessible for T20 competitions throughout the world, Boult and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) last year reached an agreement to get him released from his core contract. He is presently playing for MI Emirates in the International League T20 of the United Arab Emirates.

Trent Boult In Constant Conversation With Gavin Larsen
The 33-year-old has indicated a desire to compete in the World Cup, but his attendance at the event has yet to be officially confirmed. The gate is definitely open, though, according to Larsen, who also stated that Boult is frequently in contact with head coach Gary Stead.
“Gary and Trent talk on a regular basis. We all know Boulty’s pedigree, his experience and just what a great match-winner he is and has been over the years for us,” he said.

One of the finest bowling abilities in all game formats is the left-arm quick, who has a remarkable capability to swing the ball each sides.
“We want him to be involved, we’d love him to be involved, we understand entirely his situation so we will keep working with him,” Larsen said.
“We’ve got a World Cup at the end of the year and I’ve got my fingers crossed that if the stars align that we’ll have a certain Trent Boult opening the bowling for us.”
The relatively young New Zealand bowling attack suffered in the recently completed white-ball series in India without Boult and the seasoned Tim Southee.
They were defeated 3-0 in the ODI series, which would worry them given how soon the World Cup is. Despite making it to back-to-back finals in 2015 and 2019, New Zealand hasn’t yet taken home the trophy.
