Certificate Validity Rules
- Caste is determined by the father's caste, not the husband's.
- Caste certificates are generally valid permanently.
- Permanent residence certificates are valid indefinitely; temporary ones for 1 year.
- Income certificates are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.
- For NCL certificates, a new certificate can be obtained based on an old one by providing a self-declaration.
How to Apply for a Certificate Online
Go to the official RTPS portal: serviceonline.bihar.gov.in.
If you are a new user, click on "Register Yourself" to create a login ID and password.
Log in and from the left menu, select "Apply for Service".
Choose the required certificate (e.g., Caste, Income), fill the form carefully, and upload your photo.
Verify your identity using Aadhaar OTP or by uploading an approved ID document.
Attach any required supporting documents (annexures).
Review your application, submit it, and download the acknowledgement slip for future reference.
How to Download Your Certificate
Visit the official RTPS portal.
In the "Citizen Section" on the right, click "Download Certificate".
Enter your Application Reference Number and your full name in English.
Click the "Download Certificate" button to get your PDF.
How to Track Application Status
Visit the official RTPS portal.
In the "Citizen Section," click "Track Application Status".
Track using your Application Reference Number or OTP/Application Details.
Enter the captcha and click "Submit" to view your status.
